About PNG Color Swapper

PNG Color Swapper finds every pixel close to a chosen source color and repaints it with a new target color, using an adjustable similarity tolerance and optional edge smoothing for a soft transition at color boundaries. A "Preserve Color Shades" mode keeps each pixel's original lightness so shading and gradients in the source image are retained after the swap, instead of flattening to one solid new color.

How to use it

  1. Load a PNG image using the Load PNG button.
  2. Click a pixel on the input canvas to sample its color, or set it manually with the color picker.
  3. Choose your replacement color, then tune Color Similarity and Edge Smoothing.
  4. Enable Preserve Color Shades to keep shading intact, then download the output PNG.

Who it's for

Designers and developers who need to recolor a specific element in a PNG — a logo accent, a UI icon, a product variant — while keeping the rest of the image untouched.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Matching Mask option do?

It highlights every pixel currently selected by your tolerance setting in magenta, so you can fine-tune the selection before applying the new color.

Why use Preserve Color Shades?

Without it, every matched pixel becomes one flat new color; with it, the original highlights and shadows carry over onto the new color.
